Survey Results are at the bottom of this page.
This survey is from June 2023. The purpose is to explore Texas county appraisal districts views on the wildlife management minimum acreage requirements for small tracks of land that qualified for agricultural appraisal last year and that are the same size or larger than they were January 1st of last year.
It was emailed or mailed to all Texas appraisal districts with 4 questions and a chance to comment. The 4 questions were:
1 Does your county have minimum acreage requirements for properties seeking conversion to wildlife management? Specifically, I am inquiring about small tracts of land that:
- Qualified for agricultural appraisal last year,
- Are the same size or larger compared to their size on January 1st of last year.
2 If there is a minimum acreage requirement for those properties, please tell me how many acres are required?
3 Are you aware of any case law involving lawsuits against appraisal districts over minimum acreage requirements for conversion to wildlife management?
4 If so, please give the case name or the appraisal district involved if you know it.
